Not as noisy and just as fun as "they" say! August 7, 2008 I have played both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and I have to say I enjoy the interface of the Xbox 360 much more than the PS3, and I can't say I have ever enjoyed the interface of the PS* for that matter.
The design and feel of controller is great and the console itself looks great. Compared to my computer the console does not make much noise at all and it hardly drowns out the sounds that come from my speakers. I think any noise issues have either been fixed or previous reviews were exaggerating.
The esthetical attributes aside the console works well. I have played quite steadily for a month on the two games I got with the console ( Halo 3 and GTA 4). The console does the job more than adequately and the graphics are astounding even on a simple VGA monitor.
The only reason I would only give 4 stars to the fun section of the review is because of the cost of the games, although I realise it is the market price for console games they are rather dear and I am sure if I had a bit more money I would have a much more varied and therefore fun experience with the console.
However that would be my only criticism and overall I would say go with what your comfortable with, I think both consoles fair equally well but mind your budget, time and do try before you buy if you can!
Microsoft..... o dear August 1, 2008 You would think with Microsoft having the amount of money it does they would have put a lot of research into the console and made sure it was working properly before release. Well they didn't instead they brought out a console that melts itself. I have never owned one myself but I have friends that do and all of them have had the red ring of death. I have played on them also and I find the controllers are too big and they run on batteries rather then been able to recharge. After all this I bought myself a ps3 and had no problems at all. Would recommend them to anyone but I would never ever recommend and X-box 360.
Fun for everyone July 30, 2008 This is going to be a bit of a comparison between the 360 and PS3.
I wouldn't say its a good looking machine, though the PS3 is quite good looking. The machine is a complete money making excercise by MS. The graphics are exceptional, the games are varied and mostly brilliant thankfully, LIVE is excellent though a bit of a scam. The noise from the machine is dreadful, it sounds like you are living inside a vacuum cleaner. The controllers are heavy and bulky and constantly need batteries. Its not the best product for value for money since everything you get free with the PS3 you have to pay for the 360 :(. The 20GB is the perfect console out of all three of the 360s in my opinion, its got most things you need. I would definitely recommend this console, but not before the PS3!
An amazing machine! July 28, 2008 I have owened a 360 for 2 years this christmas and I still think it is my favourite console I have ever owened. Here are some positive things about the 360:
With the 360 at about 159.99 it's a must have
It has some great games going for it HALO 3, CALL OF DUTY 4 etc.
The games have great graphics
Dialouge is readable when subtitles are up
And many more great things!
Now on to the bad points:
360's have THE RINGS OF DEATH which is unavoidable. My 360 went into servicing for about 3-4 weeks although MICROSOFT sent a free courier and when it came back I got a free XBOX LIVE GOLD MEMBERSHIP for a month which led to me getting LIVE.
The fan is quite loud why you play which can be quite annoying
But all in all I would say it is well worth the money.
Hope the review was helpful!
Disgraceful July 24, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This machine is an absolute disgrace. I have kept mine up to now solely because of the superb games comin out at the end of the year, but it has been a genuine horror to live with. For a device made by one of the biggest companies in the world you would have thought that some effort, time and money would have gone into making a high quality product, but no. The fan is rediculously loud, for what it is. A lot of other machines have loud fans but this beats them all. Even with a surround sound system the infernal fan drones on in the background. Was there any attempt by microsoft to fix this problem? I severly doubt it. The 360 is also very prone to freezing. This month alone, when I have not put more than 7 or 8 hours in to gaming, my 360 has frozen more than 8 times. Again showing that microsoft clearly minimised their effort to fix obvious problems. On top of it all it has a tendancy to damage the game discs. So far my 360 has broken 4 games, including Gears Of war and Halo 3, and this is not a fault of mine, as I am very careful with my game discs. I wish i could remember when I first got my 360. When i was so glad to be able to play new games and see the amazing graphics, but I can't because this digraceful piece of garbage has made we wish that I could take away the joy of playing halo, gears, bioshock etc, if it would give me back the time and money I have wasted on this god-awful machine.
