4GB microSD for just over a tenner - bargain May 28, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I initially thought there was a fault with my existing USB memory card reader since Windows wouldn't recognise this 4GB microSD card when I stuck it in the USB port, even though the card was recognised and works fine with my Nokia N95 phone.
After a bit of research on the net, I discovered that because this microSD card is the the new SDHC technology it requires a SDHC compatible USB card reader in order to be able to read/write using a PC. The normal SD card readers will not work with the newer SDHC cards.
I then got a SDHC compatible reader off a well-known auction site for 1.50 and it works fine and shows up on my PC now as a removable drive.
Another thing I learnt was the SDHC cards are available in different 'classes'. The higher the class rating, the faster read/write speed of the media. This card is Class 2, and is fine for using with my Nokia N95 for capturing Video and playing back MP3 tracks which play back without being jumpy or stuttering. However for SD card camcorder purposes you may be advised to go for a higher class such as class 5 or 6 for smooth video recording as they require huge data writing at fast speed.
I received the microSD card with a SD card adaptor only and no USB reader included. This wasn't much of a surprise since the product advertised made no claims about a reader being included. The customers who refer to the picture showing the pack with the reader included should note it was submitted by another user, and not the official Amazon product picture which just shows the card itself.
I bought direct from Amazon who shipped with free supersaver delivery as my total order was over 15 and it arrived very quickly, so top marks again from a once-more satisfied customer!
Who needs ipods???? May 21, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I ordered this card for my new Nokia 6500 slide phone, but wasn't sure of it's compatibility.
I am pleased to say the phone accepted the 4GB card no problems, which is great because now I can store 500+ MP3's or record lots of high quality video, and store many photos from the amazing 3.2 megapixel camera.
So I got a brilliant free handset [on a 15 a month contract with the 3 network] and a large memory card very cheap, no need for an ipod then, i have all that and more.
Misleading photos. May 20, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Be aware that there is NO USB adaptor included with this. Just the microSD card and an SD adaptor.
Very misleading.
Product Description May 12, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This product is described as "ships with Bonus MicroMate USB 2.0 SD/SDHC Reader". This is not the case and when I contacted the supplier I was met with a blunt reply and told to return the product. In addition to this I bought two and paid postage twice. They came in one package and therefore did not cost twice the postage.
On sale even though they're out of stock May 6, 2008 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
Ordered this item, the stock level is shown as 42 new and used in stock, had an email two days later saying
"We're sorry, but the following order from flash_memory has been cancelled because the items you purchased were out of stock. Please return and attempt to purchase again at a later time.
We apologize for any inconvenience."
If they're that sorry why the hell do they show 42 in stock and waste my ****ing time! In case you think this is an isolated incident, the same day I orderd a pair of 2GB M type fuji SD picture cards. Guess what the same story.
AMAZON YOU AND flash_memory NEED TO GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND STOP WASTING MY TIME.
I'll be really surprised if this makes it onto the page, or if Amazon get of their backsides and sort this out - Go ahead Prove me wrong!
