a must-have! October 23, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This books is definitely a must-have for those who are about to, or have just started their nurse training.
I unfortunately didn't get mine until i was already half way through the course, and although it has still been handy to dip into at times, i think it would have been much more beneficial to myself if i had bought it sooner.
So if you are about to become a student nurse, or are in your 1st year i would highly recommend it- it is worth every penny :)
Excellent ! July 13, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although I am no novice to Health care, as I have worked in the industry as a HCA for some time. However, I will be commencing Nurse training this year.
I was sceptical at first about purchasing this book and thought that I would not need it. Hey, I was wrong and the book has confirmed to me that you can never have too much knowledge.
This wonderful book has given me confidence and has also taught me never to become too complacent, even at the best of times.
I would recommend this book to anyone anticipating on becoming a Nurse.
Helps in all sorts of ways February 9, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have found this book not only to be invaluable in my first year but also funny in parts. The section on reflective learning really helped me understand the reflective models and it was referenced in my assignent. It's a great handbook to keep in you uni bag!!

I bought this book after seeing the rave reviews on Amazon and was disappointed to find out that it did not meet my expectations. I have been a health care worker for some years and have recently been seconded to do my degree in Mental Health Nursing. Whilst I can see how helpful it would be for someone starting nursing studies who has had no clinical experience, if you have worked as a health care worker for even a short period, most of this stuff will be old news to you. Or common sense. I would say that if you have had no previous experience, then buy this book - it will give you some invaluable advice, to the rest of you however, I would say give it a miss.

This book has and is an invaluable learning tool & guide to help you through those early weeks / months, when you first set out.It gives a relevant & sometimes light hearted content , which is really helpful when you don,t understand a concept / theory. I would purchase this book before commencing this career pathway, as it gives such good insight into a tough profession.I have read it cover to cover, & use it often to re-establish my thinking, and I have also used some of the suggestive reading material.Overall I really recommend this book.
