Fox's Feud April 2, 2008 The third "Farthing Wood" novel brings a more familiar tale to the unwilling leader of the Farthing Wood animals: grief and vengeance. The start of the feud between the foxes of the park is actually quite shocking, even for what is essentially a children's book. The ensuing rivalry, and the blossoming relationship between the feuding families' youngest generations, has echoes of Romeo and Juliet and similar stories, meaning that this book rates a touch lower than some of the others in the series.
It remains however an engaging read - but again if you didn't like the first book, or weren't enthralled by these or the animated series as a youth, you may find the story lacking compared to novels written purposefully for adults. This book really deserves over three stars, but felt a plain four would be giving a good book a touch too much credit.
Fox's Fued is the best book. July 17, 1999 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Fox's Fued is a really great book. It is written so well and the vocabulary is excellent. Colin Dann is one of the best writers..ever. Fox's Fued is explained so well and at points it keeps you in suspence. The characters and the story are both perfect.
