Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars a heavy going book that has all information needed   September 23, 2005

this book is very good and goes into physiology in relation to midwifery in some detail. although i thought it would have been better than it was. you will need some background knowledge on anatomy and physiology to find it useful.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent text book for student midwives.   March 29, 2001

I have found this book to be very easy to read, the text is broken up by diagrams and illistrations which always help to put things into perspectus. A must have book for all student midwives. EXCELLENT

4 out of 5 stars Core text, possibly to replace Myles / Mayes in the future   May 11, 2000

This core text will assist all midwives in the basic needs of the childbearing woman. It contains more depth than Mayes / Myles basic texts, but unfortunately Stables references their work an incredible amount. Most of the diagrams and pictures are from these basic texts, and to get a clearer idea, diffrent pictures would have been an advantage. The text is more critical and therefore appropriate for the degree student and those wishing to improve their practice. A good buy generally, but unnecessary if you already have a basic midwifery text.
