Set in the near future, the Battlefield: Bad Company single-player campaign drops gamers into a dramatic Eurasian conflict. As part of a squad of four soldiers, players risk it all to go AWOL on a personal quest, fighting their own war within the war. Featuring a dramatic storyline flavored with attitude, Battlefield: Bad Company leads gamers far from the traditional frontlines on a wild ride with a group of renegade soldiers who decide that sometimes the gratitude of a nation just isn't enough. The Battlefield: Bad Company cinematic single-player experience captures the freedom and intensity of the franchise's legendary multiplayer sandbox game play in a dynamic world where nearly everything is destructible. Gamers have total freedom to be daring and innovative, adapting to and tackling challenges in unexpected "Battlefield-style" ways. Create sniping positions by blowing out a piece of a wall or drive your tank straight through a small house. The ever-changing battlefield forces players, their teammates and enemies to react accordingly. The game also features a full suite of the franchise's trademark multiplayer game play, supporting 24 players online. Battlefield: Bad Company is the first game built from the ground up for next-generation consoles using DICE's bleeding-edge Frostbite game engine, delivering unrivaled graphics, effects and game play.

This is a awful game!!! September 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I played and loved COD4 (What a game)!!!. I got this game thinking it would be great having a destructable environment, but this fact wore off after about 20 mins of playing. The Online is the worst online shooter I hvae ever played, it is just a case of who gets in the vehicles first gets the best scores. AWUFUL GAME ONLINE.
Single player is ok but just reminds me of playing Frontlines fuel of war, which was a rubbish shooter, no atmosphere at all.
If you like to gripped by a shooter then stay away from this game. Don't say I did not warn you.
Damn good fun September 15, 2008 This game is an essential purchase for the xbox 360, single player is good fun although not hard to complete. It has some amazing cut scenes and a bit of humour thrown in. Online is the games strongest feature with destructable buildings and numerous jeeps, tanks and choppers to use in the fight. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it can be a bit annoying with the lag and the fact that it sometimes takes an entire clip from your weapon to kill an enemy because of it. Come on EA, sort it out !!
It's not COD..... September 13, 2008 ....But of course not. Did you really expect EA to just copy COD4 and just re-sell it? No, I thought not. The Game has good points and bad points, which I will endeavour to go through. I have played the full single player campaign, and played multiplayer for about a week. So..
- Destructible Terrain: Awesome. So much fun. Unlike COD, where you have perhaps 1 or 2 ways to take a compound/fortress etc, in this there are hundreds. Need to assault a structure but pinned down? Blow through the wall, and shock the guys inside. Hilarious. It's very useful on single player, where attacks become so much more sandbox, and quite good on multiplayer, where buildings are generally reduced to dust by the end.
- AI, and Multiplayers: The AI on the single player is good. The game was quite challenging but not impossible on normal difficulty, which is excellent, as many games fail at this simple, requisite feature. Multiplayer is much more of a free for all, with little teamwork, but then unless you played with friends, neither was there on other battlefields.
- Graphics: Very nice. Crisp, clear, cutscenes VERY impressive, and scenery nicely rendered.
- Gameplay: I have to say a bit mindless. There are few levels, and it is a very short game but each level seems overly long, with huge distances to cover. Combat is a mix of the boring, where you constantly die, the interesting, staging your own assault pattern (courtesy of destructible terrain, and the mindless, cutting down swathes of enemies with ease, or repetitive. Multiplayer was quite quick to get into with most players being at a similar level, and I was racking up good scores a few matches in, which was nice.
- Battlefield: There are little, small bits where you can feel the old battlefields shining through. As you climb up a hill you remember how it feels the same as Battlefield 2, the way enemies die and drop their kits, its still does feel like Battlefield! It is impressive how EA have managed to change the game dynamic but retain the old flavour.
Unfortunately, that is really not enough. Could have been better, and I must say..... I'm going back to COD. Sorry EA.
Good but not Call of Duty 4 September 11, 2008 The single player game is a standard affair of moving from place to place on the map and carrying out objectives. When you die the people you have killed stay dead which is strange. The game doesn't take into account trees and bushes as cover so the enemy will spot you and can shoot straight at you which is a little annoying. All in all the single player is a worth while play though. The multi player should be brilliant however for the past few weeks the servers have been suffering from so much lag the game has been barley playable. EA have admitted to this but it's still not good enough. The fact you can destroy the scenery really does add alot to it but although they have now added another multi player game play type there are still only 2 different types with no team death match. All in all I would say check the forums and the bad company website to find out when they have fixed the lag issues before you buy it.
better than COD4...but not perfect August 29, 2008 If cod 4 is a light infantry skirmish then bad company is a war. The single player is there for you to get to grips with the controls. Whilst the 1 player is ok the enemy a.i. are too good and there is a funny aspect like in bioshock where when you die you get respawn but the enemies you've killed previously stay dead. But none of that matters because its the online war that proves so fantastic that other little niggles are easilly ignored. 90% of the battlefield is destructable with tanks, mortars, guns, helicopters, grenades, noob tubes, RPG's, exploisives etc. Buildings and scenary fall under the destructive power of your arsenal. all the maps are amazing...with a mix of sniping, mid range mayhem and close range action (insert shot gun blast here). You choose your class of soilder from demolition, support, assault, sniper and speacialist and as you rank up you unlock more weopons and gadgets. This works very well as all weopons even the new ones you gain are well balanced. Theres no being shot in the face a la cod4 by a twit yet again with a RCP90 which just spews out ammo...this is well balanced carnage. It shows the brutality of war. Noobs will die...and die alot. There are issues with what a tank can roll over and what it can't, sometimes you respawn with your squad just to get smoked instantly. Also unlike cod4 the teamwork on battlefield can at times be non existant with most at times not talking over the headphones prefering a rambo esqe method. Theses are small niggles. What bad company does it does well and when your squad does start to bark orders to each other its fantastic. This is war and with the new free download over live which is like capture the flag the only way that cod4 can answer is by supplying some fantastic maps. Cod4 feels old compared to this. See you there!!! Join my squad, I'm rodent 28 (general of the army)I can be found usually with a shottie in my hand.
