1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!!   September 29, 2008
Just to let you know before you spend a lot of money on this, they don't warn you that LG do not make their televisions with earphone output!! So if you are buying this TV to use with headphones like i did, be warned!! You are about to waste a whole lot of money!!!

4 out of 5 stars No quibbles (apart from sound)   April 8, 2008

We purchased this to use as a 2nd TV having compared it to 12 others in store. Picture quality was all important and it hasn't let us down. The image is clear and sharp (using the SCART input), the onscreen graphics are clear (so if used as a PC monitor it should be ok), and there is little smearing whan watching fast action TV sequences.

The screen resolution at 1680 x 1050 is ok, but you don't want anything less at this size. There are plenty of connectors, but there is no HDMI (so you can't watch true HD sources), or any USB sockets (handy if using it as a monitor).

The integral TV tuner is a little weak and tends to produce a noisy picture, so we use an external FREEVIEW box connected via SCART. The weakest point is the sound - it's dreadfully tinny, I use PC speakers plugged into the headphone socket. This does mean you need to turn the volume up quite high. Another annoyance is the "on" light. It's bright, no I mean really bright, in the bedroom it is really distracting. I've had to blank it off with a piece of tape.

One nice thing is the PSU is built into the unit - no brick-in-a-wire to tripover.

So after 9 months, do we regret the purchase? - no, have we found anything better in the same price bracket? - not yet. Recommended? - YES!!!.

5 out of 5 stars 20 inch that packs a punch   February 4, 2008

i was searching for a 19" monitor to replace my old 17" ,but it had to have hd ready ,(mainly for xbox 360),i found this little beauty at a local high street shop, used has a tv the picture is exellent through my virgin media box,but what really packs a punch is the HD on xbox 360 the quality is amazing,i have a 26" samsung and the picture on the LG is just as good, total bargain when looking for an HD ready tv monitor .

5 out of 5 stars excellent value - arguably as good as it gets   January 16, 2008

I opted for the 20 inch as the 19 inch was in short supply. For around 200 this screen punches well above its weight. As commented previously the sound is a little intensive on the treble when used as a TV , a bit better when used as a monitor. Other than this (and its quite acceptable really) it is very hard to fault this monitor which seems to bridge the gap between Monitor and TV admirably well. In TV mode the picture is good when attached to a freeview box (did not try inbuilt tuner). On DVD input it really is excellent. Unable to try on an HD source but given that DVD is part way there it should be close to perfect. As a monitor it is very good (Bioshock in widescreen is awesome), I got this as a present for my son and will part with it reluctantly. A positive battalion of inputs on the back (only one scart but multi scart plugboxes cheap)). The screen surround is a nice dense shiny black that looks more expensive than it is. Overall a very good buy. a perfectionist might quibble at 5 stars due to the sound but a definite 5 on overall quality and value.

4 out of 5 stars LG 20" LCD HD TV   December 28, 2007

I to read the reviews for the smaller version of this HD TV. I opted for the bigger screen.Must say i was quite impressed with the graphics no problem with the viewing angles.I think the only only thing that lets this tv down is the volume meaning it sounds a bit "tinny".Use it for the nintendo wii an sky in the kids room.Found it to be a good buy.
