1 out of 5 stars Errors   March 1, 2008
This book, on the surface, appears to be very good. However, as a 3rd year student midwife and currently studying for my obstetric emergencies VIVA, I have noticed that there a errors in drug dosages e.g. page 433 which is referring to eclampsia, it states that the woman should be given a loading dose of magnesium sulphate of 4mg IV. This is a blatant error as it should be 4g. Imagine my horror to think that this book went to press with errors of this magnitude that could have an adverse effect on maternal otcomes. In my view this edition should be withdrawn from all outlets before any damage is caused as a result!!!!!

This is a brilliant book!
I am a second year midwifery student and am currently using it whilst out in practice to look up what tests the woman can be offered at various points in her pregnancy. Everything I am to be assessed on is in here from antenatal to postnatal including complications as well as the 'normal'. It even covers contraception, breastfeeding and parent education.
I have dozens of midwifery books but can honestly say that this is the best one I own. I highly recommend it to both midwives and students.

A great book, with excellent descriptions of all things midwifery related. Covers everything from pre-contraception, antenatal, labour & delivery through to the postnatal period, including low and high risk midwifery! It is small enough to carry in your bag too! An splendid resource
